THE ROCK REPORT

In an attempt to stay in touch with friends and family... I unveil my personal blog! This will be a place where you will be able to track my progress. I've gone to the Great White North and back to Vancouver and now I'm slowing things down in the Surf Capital of Canada - Tofino. Expect daily updates and photos of what I am up to. And being a pop culture vulture....don't be surprised to see a sprinkle of celebrity gossip thrown in. Let's slow things down and set our clocks to Tofino Time.

Everyday at work we get sent these "Team Thought of the Day".

I usually hate them to be honest. They usually don't inspire me. I usually delete them before looking. I am usually a negative Nancy when I check my e-mail at 10am after being at work for 4 hours....but today I decided to give the quote a quick look and I'm so happy that I did.

“If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they might have planned for you? Not much.” Jim Rohn, motivational speaker

So true. Really think about it....and don't let anyone else plan YOUR life. They aren't the one who is going to have to experience it.

What an awesome weekend!

I flew down to Vancouver again this weekend and had such a good time in the big city and back home. On Friday night I hung out with friends - on Saturday I went shopping with Kelly and had lunch with Kristin - went to Papa Roach - Art of Dying - It Dies Today at the Commodore - ran into friends at the Roxy - went to the Buck - on Sunday I went out for breakfast at the Pi - and had dinner with family.

Papa Roach was insane! I wasn't a HUGE fan before the show but on Sunday I went out and bought an album and have been listening to it non stop. God....I miss Vancouver. I need a job there that has to do with music and I will be the happiest girl alive. A little piece of my heart breaks when I can't make it to a show. Honestly....concerts are my life. Thanks to Ryan Bloom (stage name) - Ian & Jon Findlay for taking good care of me Saturday night. You boys got my back.

*I ran into a few friends from the FOX! And Bloomfield was a sweaty mess! And Jon looks like one scary dude*

BEST NEWS EVER!!!!

My favourite band (or top 3) is reuniting after 7 years apart....

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE is playing at the Coachella Music Festival this Summer in California. I am going.

I will quit my job...sell my car....give up anything to see them live. I am freaking out right now....I need to take a tranquilizer and calm down...

OH MY GOD!!!!!! I am losing it.....

Life in PG is good right now!

I finally feel like I'm settling in and can be content living here. It helps that I can come home every weekend but I am finally starting to embrace my independance and actually enjoy it. I love having my own house, my own car, my own career, my own dog, my own schedule...my own everything.

I can't believe I've been here for 6 months already! I'm just so glad it's 2007 and I have so much to look forward to. I can't wait to see what happens in the next 6 months...I have a good feeling about things though.

The fun in Richmond continued on Saturday night when me and my girls went to the Buck to continue to celebrate Karlee's birthday and my friend Zach's going away party (he's going to South America...lucky boy!).

I saw so many people whom I haven't seen for months which is fun and awkward at the same time. At the Buck I meant to talk to everyone and do lots of catching up but it seems that time flew past me and I caught up with only one person in particular.

At 2:30am I was wide awake - my thanks to Diet Rock Star - and suggested going to the casino! We were there until.....way too late. WAY TOO LATE. But it was a great night...and I won $18. Not much I know but at least I didn't lose. I get so excited playing the slot machines. I love it!

I had a very busy weekend....but an incredible weekend at the same time!!

At 1pm on Friday afternoon I decided to fly to Vancouver to surprise my best friend Karlee and celebrate her birthday with her at the Billy Talent - Rise Against concert at Pacific Coliseum. The plan went off without a hitch.

Kristin picked me up at the airport at 6pm and drove us to Amanda's house where Karlee and Veronica were waiting. They had NO idea!! I got a floor ticket to the concert no problem and enjoyed the show from the front row on the floor.

I fell asleep at Amanda's after the show and don't remember the drive home but what an awesome night!!!

Today was possibly the greatest day of my life...and it's not even over yet!

I spent a good half hour with Ricky, Bubbles and Julian aka. The Trailer Park Boys. Wow...I am totally in LOVE with Ricky. He smells like liquor and bubble gum! They were interviewed by G-Lo and Colin Pearson. They were in character for the radio but hearing them talk off the air was hilarious! Bubbles looks and sounds so different when he's not being "Bubbles".

They are in town for New Wrestling Nation tonight at the CN Centre and everyone from work is going and I'm SO excited. This is going to be a good night....

Last night I went to Snoop Dogg at the CN Centre.

It was.....weird. I definately felt out of place.

A. I was over the age of 16 (I would say 70% of the crowd was still in high school)

B. I was fully clothed.

C. I wasn't totally trashed.

After waiting for Snoop for an hour and a half between him and the opening act Kurupt, he hit the stage and it was fun. But by that time I was totally exhausted and ready to head to bed. He performed the classics "Gin & Juice" - "What's My Name?" - "Nuthin' But a G Thang" and the newer stuff "Drop It Like It's Hot" - "Beautiful".

My friend Marcus came down from Chetwynd and I was also able to bring Cam and Tynan. Jess and Tynan seemed shocked that I knew a lot of the lyrics....umm...grade 8 or 9 rings a bell!

I know I make the same annoying face in each picture...I was trying to look "ghetto fabulous". No success....

I have been meeting so many cool people from UNBC!

On Saturday night, my friend of 7 years from back home - Tynan, took me to his UNBC Residence Masquerade party. It was a semi-formal so the girls all wore heels and dresses and the guys were all dressed up as well. It was so much fun!

We all hopped on a bus at UNBC that took us downtown and we had a group of around 12 people. There was lots of dancing and fun!

I definately love my job, but at the same time I do feel strange to be a career woman at the age of 20. I sometimes feel like my life is too "grown up" for me and that I just want to go to school and be like normal young adults. But again, I LOVE my job. And by going to the UNBC events and hanging out with students, I feel like I'm not missing out too much.

I know...I know...8 days since my last post...all I can say is:

We're in ratings!!!

Life has been great up here. The cold snap ended and we're back to a normal -5 with snow.

On Friday night the crew went to the Tragically Hip at the CN Centre. It was awesome! It was my second time seeing them and although I didn't get to meet them personally, Brad and I went on stage in front of 2,000 + people to welcome everyone to the show and to get them pumped for the Hip.

The show was amazing. They have so many great songs so I didn't hear everything I wanted to but they did play some favourites like Bobcaygeon, Gift Shop, Ahead By a Century....

I was super close to the stage and the sound was perfect. All in all it was a great Friday night! And according to my friend Scott in the pic above...my hair smells pretty darn good.

On Sunday Brett was kind enough to take me to my favourite place in all of Vancouver...the Vancouver Aquarium. I think we've gone twice a year for the past 3 years! I can't get enough of it!

It was chilly but not as busy as I thought it would be and it seems that everytime Brett and I go there, we always get lucky and see the Octopus! This time he was right up against the glass.

After the Aquarium we drove around and saw all the trees that had fallen down. The park looks totally different....in some areas there are more trees down than there are up. It made me sad to see all those trees, some are hundreds of years old!

As usual, a weekend trip to Vancouver doesn't feel like long enough. I'm sorry to all the friends I didn't get to visit...I'll be back soon!

I went to Radio School for this?!

Yes...it's me inside that chicken costume! We're doing a contest where people have to spot the 94X chicken in order to win prizes....today I was the chicken.

I stood on the median at Hwy 16 and Central dancing like a fool while cars and trucks whizzed by honking and waving...and it was fun!

I'm just glad I did it today and not Friday where the high for the day is a humid -19.

I recorded this video of Incubus performing "Anna Molly" live at their show! It isn't half bad!

I am back to my normal blogging self! My thanks to Jess for keeping you updated during my concussion.

I got into Vancouver yesterday at 6:oopm. Brett...yes Brett! picked me up from the airport and we headed to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. After a quick stop at Wendy's on Cambie we managed to find a parking spot on the street, on a Friday night, when there's a home Canucks game, that was literally one block away from the Queen E! I was prepared to dish out $15 for parking and it cost us 60 cents.

After running into some good friends from the Fox! (Hey Mandy, Heather, and Chelsea!) we went inside and tried to find our seats. I thought we were row 19 on the floor...and my jaw dropped when the usher told us to walk up two flights of stairs and that we were upper balcony...I was momentarily devastated...until I realized that we were in the FRONT ROW of the balcony! And we were Right Centre. I wouldn't have traded tickets with anyone. In my opinion they were the best seats in the house.

Incubus rocked! Loved the new stuff off their Light Grenades album and the old stuff (Wish You Were Here, Megalomaniac, Talk Shows on Mute). I was shocked that they didn't perform Pardon Me but I left happy!

Hi, Jess here, writing on behalf of Heather who's a little under the weather at the moment.

Here's the low-down: Monday, after chasing Ozzy, she slipped on an icy patch at the bottom of her stairs and whacked her head really well on the concrete stairs. Not to mention her elbow which is nicely scabbed, and her thigh which is black and blue. Well, at work Tuesday she came into the newsroom and told us about her fall at which point the collective newsroom decided she really needed to go to the emegencry room. And so I drove her to emerg and we hung out with all the sick people and some lady who would shout every couple of minutes. The doctor (when we finally got to see one) said she had a concussion and gave instructions to come back if her symptoms got worse. So, rest assured, Heather is alright, with a nasty headache, but she's ok, and under strict instrutions to call me if things get worse again, or if she needs anything at all.

Thus, the lack of blogging.

She's in good hands!
