THE ROCK REPORT

In an attempt to stay in touch with friends and family... I unveil my personal blog! This will be a place where you will be able to track my progress. I've gone to the Great White North and back to Vancouver and now I'm slowing things down in the Surf Capital of Canada - Tofino. Expect daily updates and photos of what I am up to. And being a pop culture vulture....don't be surprised to see a sprinkle of celebrity gossip thrown in. Let's slow things down and set our clocks to Tofino Time.

YESSS!!!

After a bad break up a girl should always spoil herself!

I just bough Laguna Beach Season 2....I am so stoked.

I'm borderline obsessed with this Reality show. No calls. No e-mails. No nothing. Just Laguna tonight.

I had a great, long conversation with Kristin who always - ALWAYS knows exactly how to make me feel better about any given situation. That girl is wise beyond her years and would make an excellent therapist. I need to start charging her a flat rate!

I wish she was here right now or that I was there right now. She's moving out and I'm so proud of her! I wish we could live together but it would be total chaos. Two cute girls - two cute doggy's? Possibly a recipe for disaster. But maybe - just maybe it will work out when I move back to Vancouver! YAY! Something else to look forward to.

Thanks to everyone from Home who's given me a call or e-mail this Christmas. I know that sometimes I seem distant and forget to call, but I miss you, love you, and can't wait to see you in 2007!

Happy Boxing Day!

I worked today from 8am-1pm then slept until 6:45pm on Docc's couch. Very exciting....

Christmas was certainly different but it could have been worse. I opened up gifts with friends and with Ozzy (who was severely spoiled!), then went to dinner at Hartley's house with Big Gay Al. It was great and he has a very kind and sweet family! I then fell asleep at 8:30pm and didn't wake up until 7:30am this morning.

Tomorrow my Dad gets in around 10am and I can't wait to see him!

As they would say in my new favourite TV show "Laguna Beach":

Brett and I are DUNZO!!!

Merry Christmas! xo

Two days before Christmas....weird. It doesn't feel like the Holidays at all this year. I forced myself to decorate a bit and I've been cleaning my house like crazy. I'm even considering "vacuuming"! (Oohhh....ahhh).

On Monday afternoon I'm going over to Hartleys - 94X / The Wolf Sport's Director - house for Christmas dinner. He and his wife are very kind and I can't wait to eat a good meal!

Thankfully, I've been plumping up a bit and eating a lot of treats that people have been bringing in to the station. Yesterday I lived off of donuts, cookies, brownies, and peanut butter balls.

Now this might sound strange but my music of choice for the last few days has been Bob Marley! I've had his Greatest Hits album on repeat non stop for a few days and it's helping me keep an upbeat mood and it makes me think of Summer! Only 6 months away.....6 months! I can do it!

Merry Christmas. Happy Holidays. Happy Chanukah. Peace & Love.

Happy Birthday Ozzy Osbourne Keegan!!!

My darling little baby isn't really a baby anymore. Ozzy was born one year ago today. It wasn't until March that I got to take him home and become his Mommy and I have loved almost every minute of it.

I spoiled him with peanut butter Kong filling, a penguin stuffed animal, and a new chew toy.

I also put his stocking up above the fireplace! And the last song I played today on my shift was "Ozzy Osbourne - Bark at the Moon" and needless to say I dedicated it to him.

More Disneyland!

In case you didn't get to see enough of the "Happiest Place on Earth".

Hopefully I'll be back there next December!

It's official....I'm sick.

My Dristan Nasal Spray and Dimetapp Cold and Flu are my two best friends right now. I went to bed yesterday coughing, sneezing every 5 minutes, unable to breathe through my nostrils. Woke up even worse this morning.

My throat hurts, my head hurts, and yellow stuff is shooting out my nose.

I'm going to the scary walk in clinic after work to see if it's a sinus infection and to get me some antibiotics.

I'm on the air in two minutes! This will be an interesting shift.....

Back to the real world...

I had a WONDERFUL vacation. It wouldn't have happened if I didn't have such an amazing family.

Melinda and Stuart welcomed me into their home in Orange County, California for 3 days and I had such a good time. It couldn't have been better....unless I had more vacation time so I could stay for longer!

We went to Disneyland twice, Laguna Beach, and I got to spend quality time with my awesome cousins Evan and Cameron! Too much fun!!! Disneyland is all dressed up for Christmas and it put me in the Holiday mood.

The weather was great, everything was just perfect. I was spoiled and so grateful to be blessed to have such kind people in my life.

And their kittens are cute too. Sissy and Bear....hope they haven't ruined the Christmas tree yet!

My dream is coming true...

I'm off to Los Angeles on Wednesday until Saturday! Sunshine, palm trees, my awesome family in California, beaches, celebrities....CAN'T WAIT!

And best of all....Disneyland!!!!

I feel rejuvenated already and I haven't even started my vacation yet.

No snow, no cold weather, no waking up at 5am. I fly to Vancouver tomorrow. Can't wait to see my dad, family and Brett. YAHOO!

Speaking of good movies...

I saw James Bond last Wednesday with my friend Carla (who happens to be my co-host's wife). I'm ashamed to say that it was the first Bond film I have ever seen.

It was amazing! I want to sit at home for a week and watch all of the James Bond movies! And Daniel Craig was incredible. The whole movie was amazing and I'm so glad I saw it! I loved the scenes in Venice because I recognized all of the squares and some of the buildings....I miss Europe.

Yesterday was such a blast!

Around 1pm I called Jess to see if she wanted to do anything...she did! At 2:30 we went to lunch at Red Robin and then saw the matinee of "The Holiday". SO GOOD!

It was one of the best chick flicks of all time in my opinion and I can't stop thinking about it....I'm definately going to add that one to the collection.

Then we went to Tim Hortons for some coffee and donuts and then off to Holiday Festival On Ice! It was amazing. Jennifer Robinson, Sale and Pelletier, Brian Orser and Oksana Baiul were there to name a few. It was really fun and entertaining and I'm so happy that Jess and I went. It was being taped for a CBC special to air December 21st at 9pm. Ever wonder why everyone lands their jumps and everything's perfect in those TV specials? When the show is over the skaters come back out and re-do any tricks they messed up so that when the show is edited they can take out the mistakes.

Well....after the skaters came out to do their tricks they still bowed and waved to the audience and showed their appreciation before going backstage....and then there's Oksana. I understand that she won the Olympic Gold Medal....in 1994....12 years ago, but it doens't excuse some bad behaviour. When it was her turn to fix up her mistakes she comes out, skates for 2 minutes, tries a jump, misses it and just runs off in a tizzy throwing the backstage curtain open. No waves, no nothing. The whole audience sat there stunned in silence for about 10 seconds. Jess and I burst out laughing. What a diva......

The night continued when we went to Boston Pizza to share a piece of cheesecake. Then we went to the Rum Jungle - a club - for maybe an hour tops. I really don't like the clique-ey, small town attitude many of the young people in this city have developed. I don't think I'll be going back to the Jungle for a long time.

A great night, I had a great sleep, and now I'm going to have a great day cleaning my house!

So far today is great!

It's Friday, I have lots of plans for the weekend and I met two of the most famous Canadians in the world today...

Gold Medal Olympic figure skaters Jamie Sale and David Pelletier!

Brad and I chatted with them on the air for a good ten minutes and they were so kind, funny, sweet and wonderful. I did a lot of research and it paid off! I bought Jamie a big pack of Twizzlers (her favourite candy) and David "The Hockey News" magazine (his favourite mag). They were so happy and grateful just for two silly gifts.

I am seeing them perform tomorrow night at the CN Centre. The GM gave me great seats so I'm taking Jessica with me. It's a one time event to air on CBC later on this month.

She's so small in real life! She's maybe 5 ft tall and so pretty up close! I love them!

In a way it was a bitter sweet moment. As soon as the interview was done I wanted to tell Mom so bad! She would always call me upstairs and we'd lie on her bed and watch figure skating, and she loved watching Jamie and David skate in pairs. I wish I could have called her....but I know she's happy for me and she was probably looking down this morning!

Here's another display of Winter in Prince George!

This is the scene outside my house at 3pm this afternoon. The snow is piled much higher than my head. Ozzy doesn't seem to mind it as much anymore.

For anyone who's wondering what Prince George looks like during Winter....here you have it.

Atfer getting more than 40 cm of snow last weekend, I wasn't expecting any more snow. Environment Canada said there would be a light dusting overnight....right....

That "light dusting" ended up being more than 20cm. Cars are stuck all over the place and I consider myself lucky that I got out of my driveway this morning. It is turning into slush because it's only 3 degrees outside. Let's hope it doesn't freeze!

Here I am in a PG parking lot....there's probably more snow in this picture than there is in the whole Lower Mainland!

Today Brad and I headed to Save on Foods in College Heights to collect donations for the Salvation Army.

We were there from 10-12pm, Gary was there from 12-2pm and Don will be there from 2-4pm. I love doing stuff like this! It's an easy way to meet some new people and feel more involved in the Prince George community. Sounds lame but it's true!

The Country bums from the Wolf are also doing the same thing at a different Save On Foods and we've challenged each other to see who can raise more money. I think 94X will win. I feel bad for the Wolf jocks because they had to stand outside, but Brad and I were inside the entrance - nice and warm.

Congratulations to Curtis Pope and his wife who welcomed a baby girl into the world at 2:25am this morning!!!

94X - Wolf Christmas Party!!!

Saturday night was our Christmas celebration. Every single employee was there and we reserved an entire restaurant downtown.

We had a three course delicious dinner and then went to our Engineer's house for a party! I bought a new pair of high heels....really high heels but they didn't give me blisters and now I want to wear them everyday....but naturally I stick to my snow boots.

Jess did my hair! I think I should let her do that more often. The GM came up to me and said "Heather, I can't believe you look like a girl!"....I think it was a compliment!

It was quite the party though...as Colin described it on my show yesterday "Imagine a semi-truck driving straight into the world's biggest gong with an atom bomb being dropped at the exact same time". I guess that means it was fun!

PS - I was drinknig a Shirley Temple (such a nerd).

Things have been good this week!

The roads are chaos with all of the snow that fell during the weekend. Yesterday I came in at 6am to do the show and totally forgot that I was doing the afternoon show that day for a co-worker who's on vacation. Since I was there I figured I might as well do the morning, go home and rest, and then come back at 2pm.

I barely made it out of the parking lot. My car got stuck once...then not one minute later it got stuck again. When I got it out of the snow I turned straight around and drove back to the station. Jess drove us to Boston Pizza for lunch but I was here for the whole day! The afternoon show was easy because all I talked about was the weather and traffic updates. The traffic was mayhem. Utter mayhem. I've never seen anything like it.

I drove home at 6:30pm and made it home by 6:55pm. It should only take me 5 minutes to drive home but I literally was going 10km/h.

Every Monday, Mel from the SPCA brings in the Dog's Breakfast Pet of the Week. The dog yesterday was named Cassie....isn't she sweet? I wanted to take her home with me but Ozzy would be far too jealous. She's very quiet and snuggly. She sat on my lap the whole time...I wish Ozzy could stay that still!

I know I've been bad with my blog for the past couple of days!!!

SORRY! Time to catch up....

First off:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRETT! He's 22 today. I started dating him when he was 18! That's crazy to think about. I remember celebrating his 19th birthday and thinking that he was so old.

I hope all of Brett's wishes come true! But maybe they did when he met me...(he he)

Tonight was a small milestone for me.

Maybe this will sound stupid but I feel good about myself....

On a Friday night....I went out....to a hockey game....ALL ALONE!!!!

I wanted to go see my first Spruce Kings game but couldn't find anyone at work to go with me. At first I figured I'd just go home and watch TV, have a nap, do the usual...but then I was encouraged to just go by myself to the game, and I actually did!

It was a lot of fun and I didn't feel like as big of a loser as I thought I would. I felt a bit lonely but it wasn't bad at all. I'm hoping I can get some of the Spruce Kings to come on the Dog's Breakfast next week. They lost 6-3.

I have a huge crush on the Team Captain. We met at the Celebrity Hockey Game for the Library....we played against each other and had so much fun. He told me his phone number but I never wrote it down....oh well. A crush is just a crush.

Penner's my favourite player and he got into a crazy fight tonight. I was close enough to hear the trash talk....boys are funny. It's a shame I would NEVER date a hockey player.....

Bowling was fun yesterday! I didn't break 100 either game but I'm sure I'll be able to pick things up in time for next Thursday.

Today I recieved an e-mail that absolutely warmed my heart.

A listener e-mailed my co-host Brad to tell her what she thinks of our Morning Show. Now 90% of the time if someone e-mails you, it's to say something negative, or point out a mistake, or sometimes in my case to ask me if I'm single...(CREEPY!).

The girl who sent the e-mail just wanted to thank us for making her laugh every morning. She said she's a single mom who works and goes to school full time. She said she's going through a pretty tough time but she looks forward to getting up so she can listen to the show on the way to daycare and to school. She said how grateful she was that we're able to put a smile on her face and she sometimes wishes there was less music and more talk (generally listeners want MORE music - LESS talk).

I almost cried when I read it! I sent her an e-mail back saying it's great that by having no shame and being a complete idiot on the radio I can make someone's day better. It gave me warm fuzzies inside.

I love my job.
