THE ROCK REPORT

In an attempt to stay in touch with friends and family... I unveil my personal blog! This will be a place where you will be able to track my progress. I've gone to the Great White North and back to Vancouver and now I'm slowing things down in the Surf Capital of Canada - Tofino. Expect daily updates and photos of what I am up to. And being a pop culture vulture....don't be surprised to see a sprinkle of celebrity gossip thrown in. Let's slow things down and set our clocks to Tofino Time.

It is with regret that I must write that this morning my mom passed away, surrounded by her family.

It has been less than a year since she was diagnosed with Cancer and throughout her entire battle she fought the disease head on.

Her positive attitude, spirit, enduring strength and constant smile has made it easier on myself and everyone near her as she was (even in her tougher days) a complete pleasure to be around.

She knows how very much she is loved by her family. And I can smile knowing that she is at peace.

It feels good to be home....or in Vancouver...

I don't know where my "home" is!!!!

Mom is doing okay. She's still all smiles and does the Jumble in the daily Province. She is getting lots of sleep. I know it sounds weird but I love it when she sleeps! My mom is notorious for talking in her sleep. It's actually really cute until it becomes loud enough that I have to wake her up!

Right now Dad is at the hospital and they're watching the Canucks in action. Oh poo, Alexander Ovechkin (?) just scored. C'mon Luongo....earn your keep.

The saga continues between Ozzy and Mickey the cat. He chases her around - she chases him around....Ozzy would love to be friends and Mickey despises him.

The plan for the next couple of days is to spend lots of time with mom, catch up on some sleep, and read all the books I don't have time to read back in PG.

Not sure when I will be back in that Winter Wonderland....but I will keep everyone posted! -Isn't Steveston beautiful???-

I'm leaving on a jet plane....don't know when I'll be back again....

Today at 5pm I am flying home to Vancouver to spend some time with my family.

I bought a one way ticket. Ozzy obviously is coming too.

The cool thing is that I'll be on the same flight as Brett! Something that hasn't happened since November of 2004.

I will see you all soon!!! Can we see Marie-Antionnette? And Trailer Park Boys again? PG is playing bad movies right now.

All my bags are packed I'm ready to go.....

Even though Vinnie Paul from Pantera was a no show doesn't mean we can't have a picture with him!

Oh the magic of photo-shop.

And Jessica...you do look hot!!!

Hey guys look!! I met Vinnie Paul from Pantera! He was in the 94X Library....jealous?

Busy week ahead....

Brett is flying up for a quick visit tomorrow until Wednesday. I'll take him to see the old house, give him a tour of the station, maybe go to a movie, and definately go to Walmart - joking! Brett hates that store.

Then on Thursday, an Iron Maiden tribute band is coming to the Generator, on Friday night the guy in charge of the pub crawl is taking the hosts out for drinks (or sodas!) and then Saturday night is Halloween Pub Crawl night!!! I'm really looking forward to it. I just hope I can control the rowdy's. And Prince George girls are scary. No I'm serious....they're a different breed up here. They can drink with the best of them, they can fight with the best of them, and they basically have no shame. A dangerous combination if you ask me.

I need to start getting more sleep...but....

Vinnie Paul - one of the best rock n'roll drummers of all time - was a no show. He was supposed to come to the station between 1 and 3 pm and there was a good group of us hanging out waiting for him and he never came.

He did an autograph signing at some music store from 4-6pm but at 1pm there were 50 people there and then at 5:30pm there was still hundreds of people waiting to meet the drummer from Pantera.

I am disappointed. Oh well....

THE TRAGICALLY HIP ARE COMING TO PG!!! JANUARY 12TH....OK I'm happy again. And I get to announce it tomorrow morning at 7:10am.

Yesterday Marcus and Dan came up from Chetwynd for a visit. It was so great to see some familiar faces and to catch up on how everyone from school is doing.

They had some hilarious stories about the characters from Chetwynd and they helped us all celebrate Big Gay Al's birthday.

On the way to the Tabor Sports Pub I got pulled over. I guess when 4 big guys are stuffed into a little Echo things look a bit suspicious. I gave the cop my license and registration and he did a background check and then came back and was super nice to me and told me exactly how to get to the Pub because I told him I'd never been there before and I was a bit lost. I'd like to think he listens to the Dogs Breakfast....but he was probably just a nice cop.

At about 11:45, Dan, Marcus, Docc and I went to Denny's and talked about radio for what seemed to be hours, and listened to Docc's intoxicated rambling (which is for the most part extremely entertaining). Dan and Marcus went home this morning, but maybe I'll drive up to Chetwynd and try to visit them before the snow starts falling.

Thanks boys for a weekend to remember...or in your case: Try to remember!!!

So it's probably been at least 3-4 weeks since I shaved my legs and to be honest from the knee down - I sort of look like a dude.

My theory is that it keeps me warm and who really cares whether I shave my legs or not when I wear jeans all the time!?!

Brad and I talked about it on the air on Monday and the phones were ringing off the hook. Everybody seems to somehow be talking about it. I met two listeners on Tuesday and the first thing they said was "Can I see what your legs look like?". Then the next day the boyfriend of a staff member whom I'd never met before came up to me and said "I think Brad should shut up and stop bugging you about your hairy legs". Then same things on Friday night at the bar maybe 4 or 5 people asked about it and last night another 2 people asked me!!!

I think it's hilarious. And everyone gets a kick out of how willing I am to show people my hairy, hairy legs. I promised my guy friends I would shave them before Halloween. They're getting grossed out and I'm making them feel less masculine.

Thursday - I lock my keys in my car. Totally stupid. I have never done that before in my life and then I could not believe that I could be one of those scatterbrain people who locks their keys in their cars.

Thankfully I was just picking up Docc from his place which is only a 15 minute walk away from my house. So we walked over and hoped that my old landlord would be there. He wasn't. Then we hoped that the tenant downstairs might somehow have access to my place. She didn't.

Now let me remind you that I'm on the second floor. One story up. With no other choices Docc boosted me into the air, I grabbed onto a window ledge (the window was slightly ajar) and hoisted myself inside. Only a few minor cuts and scrapes and the ordeal was over!

Now I'm a paranoid freak and make sure that I have my keys in my purse or in my pocket. But for a split second I kinda felt like a super hero being flung inside my building.

Sorry!

I know I haven't been posting for a few days. Ozzy chewed up the cord that brings all that good electricity to my computer and the server has been down at work for the last couple of days. Not fun.

However I went to London Drugs, found the right part for the computer and everything is back to normal.

I've had a strange couple of days.....very strange.

SONG OF THE DAY:

Sheryl Crow - My Favourite Mistake

Your friends act sorry for me
They watch you pretend to adore me
But I'm no fool to this game
Now here comes your secret lover
She'll be unlike any other
Until your guilt goes up in flames.

Did you know when you go it's the perfect ending
To the bad day I'd gotten used to spending
When you go all I know is you're my favorite mistake
You're my favorite mistake

Well maybe nothing lasts forever
Even when you stay together
I don't need forever after, but it's your laughter won't let me go
So I'm holding on this way

*Such a fantastic song....what's your favourite mistake???*

I'm finally getting glasses tomorrow! I think I can blame any headache I have had in recent weeks on not having glasses. I'm sick of not being able to read street signs, or menus at restaurants, and I'm sick of squinting and seeing blur.

I have already picked out a really funky pair of glasses that are also quite practical and yes Dad, they are reasonably priced....not Gucci this time.

I also have to get my eyes tested at 6:45pm. Then it is Thursday....BOWLING!!!! Hopefully I'll be able to see the pins!

So the concert last night was actually quite fun!

Krome didn't go onstage until 12:15am but they played a great show. I mean really, really, great! There were maybe 40 people there tops (Tuesday night in PG?!) but the boys rocked out and so did some interesting fans who were standing a centimetre from the speakers, headbanging like there was no tomorrow.

The guys were very cool, and friendly, and extremely appreciative of the support they've had from our music director G-Lo and 94X. I think one of the guitar players was being REALLY friendly as you'll see in the pics! And at the show he was winking and pointing at me and asked me what I was doing after the show (2:15am)um...sleeping for 3hours before going to work! DUH! Docc found all of this extremely hilarious. And of course pointed out that he was getting cozy with some other girls. Can't he let me have my moment to shine??!! JOKING!

Ahhh.....you can add "musicians" to the same category as "professional athletes". I would never date either.

It's going to be a very late night tonight.

The X is presenting the Canadian band "Krome" at the Rum Jungle this evening and after meeting the band I promised them and my work mates that I would be there. The only problem??? They won't hit the stage until 12am!!!! That means that I will probably be lucky to be in bed my 2am and asleep by 2:30am. Might I remind you that I wake up at 5am???

This might not be the best idea....but I can make up for sleep tomorrow. And after all, I have only seen ONE show since I moved here....and for me??? Ms. Concert? That ain't much.

By the way: Pics of me with Krome tomorrow and if you want to hear their stuff check out their website www.krome.ca. Listen to the song "Until The End". It rocks.

I went out to the book store in PG and in one purchase I became "one of those women".

You know who I'm talking about. The ones who are smart, funny, kind, and cute and yet are single and no closer to figuring out the opposite sex than they were when their preschool playmate kissed them on the cheek and then force fed them playdough.

I bought my first "Self help" book. Not just any "self help" book but.....oh it pains me to write this.....a love "self help" book.

Perhaps you have heard of the book that's swept North America aptly titled:

"He's Just Not That Into You".

It's by one of the writers from "Sex and the City" who happens to be a straight male. He wrote this book about all the excuses guys make when the truth is they just don't like you that much. I've definately broken a lot of the rules in the book....and I'm only two chapters in.

I'll keep you posted on the book. It's definately interesting....and I'm beginning to think it might also be true!!! YIKES!

And the whole "getting married before I'm 22" thing?? Hmmm....not so sure.

Love love love love love Jessica Williams.

I truly don't think I could live in PG without this girl. She listens to me rant and rave and I mean she REALLY listens....like.....for probably hours on end.....and always has time for a quick conversation at work.

Jessica is my guidance counsellor, my dancing queen, my Martha Stewart, and my dear friend.

We went to the gym again tonight and it was awesome! Doing it again on Thursday. It's just so much fun. We work out, chat away while on the treadmill, and discuss why boys are so darn confusing to no end.....it's great! My body is starting to tighten up and I can already feel a difference.

SHOUT OUT TO MOMMY:

Hey Mom. Dad left two messages on my phone today....I am fine! Quit worrying about me! Okay I guess you can't do that completely, but you have better thoughts to spend your energy on than worryin' about lil old me. I am great, a bit homesick, but everything is wonderful.

I miss you and love you so much.

Hope you had a good day today! Dad says you're doing well. Eating lots of J-E-L-L-O? I think I might have to make some Strawberry jello later this week.

Sending lots of love your way Momma. Share some of it with Dad, Kelly, Neil, and Nan and Gramps. Not too mention all the rest of the family!

*Hope you like the angel babies*

So today Mel from the SPCA was telling me about "Strutt your Mutt" happening this Saturday for a few hours and she's convinced me to do it! Hopefully Dan and Marcus (who'll be here for the weekend) won't mind. I think Ozzy has a chance of winning "Most Ear-Issistable", "Best Kisser", and "Cutest Puppy". I might have to buy him this doggy Elvis costume I saw the other day.....

Strutt Your Mutt Dog ShowOctober 21st, 1-4 pm at the PGX Barn. The first annual Strutt Your Mutt Dog Show. There are 10 categories and Ribbons will be awarded for first, second and third place. The winner of each category will compete for Best in Show.$5.00 entrance fee per category.

*This pic was taken after Ozzy's first haircut back in the summer*

Heading to Big Gay Al's house tonight for PPV Canucks!

I'm at work right now just waiting for the boys to finish their on air shifts so we can get going. Today work went well. It was nice to be back on the air and I'm feeling much better than yesterday. I was being very cranky.

Everyone at work is trying to spoil me! Today I had donuts, and then got taken out for lunch to China Cup (my most favourite buffet restaurant) and tomorrow Brad is taking me to Booster Juice!

Mel from the SPCA came in today and brought the cutest lil' kitten! His name is Ryan and he's an 8 week old Tabby. He was adorable and snuggled up on my lap and was purring so loud and was so snuggly......uh-oh......I think I want a kitty.

Had a three hour nap today and didn't exercise.....but I did drink 2 bottles of water! And Jess and I are definately going to work out tomorrow.

In closing GO CANUCKS GO!

Not only is Brett coming up for a visit next Monday, but my dear friends from Broadcasting School who now both work for Peace Fm in Chetwynd are coming up this weekend!!!

I recieved the good news today from Marcus that he and Dan will come up on Saturday morning and go home on Sunday!

It's definately nice to see some true friends in town.

TO DO:

- Bowling
-Trailer Park Boys The Movie
- A trip to Walmart (duh?!)
- Bar hoppin'?

Made it home safely.

I got super sick on the flight and was trying to hold it in. Walking off the plane down the stairs I threw up a little and then became very embarassed. So then I threw up in my mouth. I know that's gross. Sorry. It was awful.

Thankfully the "Mother of all Knowledge": Jessica Williams (J-Dubbs) was there and we took Ozzy home. I was a bit peeved because Ozzy was left outside near the plane (I could see this all through a window) for 25 minutes in the cold and the rain while they loaded the luggage onto the next flight. He was shivering when he came into the airport. Not impressed.

Today Jessica had me over for homemade cheesecake and Earl Grey tea. She takes such good care of me! Then I went to the mall and picked out a new pair of glasses and set up an eye test for Thursday.

J-Dubbs and I then went to Walmart, where I bought jumbo size toilet paper, and then......

I WENT TO THE GYM!!!!!

You did not misread that. Jessica and I went to the gym. It was awesome! We're going again on Tuesday and I think I'll go swimming by myself tomorrow.

Despite having a great day with Jess....I do not want to be here anymore. I miss my family, my real friends, and Vancouver. I cried a lot today. But I feel better now.

Flying back to Prince George tomorrow at 8am.

My flight arrives early in the morning so I'll have the whole day ahead of me to do.......nothing.

Sad to leave but it's time to get back into the groove of things.

Thursday, October 12, 2006

Hi everyone. Still in Vancouver. It looks like I'll be here until Sunday evening.

Forunately Mom seems to be doing better! Yesterday she had a good day, and had an appetite, and didn't sleep as much as the day before.

I love that she still has an awesome sense of humour! And I even caught her singing the other day! Quietly of course, but still. She's a trooper I tell ya. She's probably having a pink popsicle right now.

Hoping today goes well.....I'm going to grab a bite to eat then go in to the hospital. My Aunt and Uncle from the island are over, and it will be nice to see them.

Here is where I spend most of my time. 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, usually more.

Ahhh...the glamorous life of a DJ........NOT!!!!

This is my tribute to Ozzy Osbourne Keegan.

He truly is a wonderful dog. I don't know what I'd do without him. Even though he drives me crazy, he's so much fun and makes me smile each and every day.

Today he's feeling very lazy as you can see in the pics above.

Ain't he cute?!?!

It's a beautiful day outside! The sun is shining and it's not even that cold.

For those of who you have never seen my quaint little cottage (it's really a fourplex)...
Here's a peek!

Like the BEWARE OF DOG sign? It adds a certain je ne sais quoi!

Last night I went out with friends from work and saw TRAILER PARK BOYS: The Movie. WOW!!!!!

If you're a fan of the show, you will NOT be disappointed by the movie. It's like one long episode! The only thing that totally threw me off was that the girl playing Trinity - Ricky and Lucy's daughter, was not the same girl who plays Trinity on the TV show.

Otherwise it's so funny. Oh man, soooo many great one liners! I'll be quoting it for a very long time.

And watch for the awesome cameos!!! Gord Downie, Corey Hart, etc.

And warning: you will want to adopt a kittie after the movie is over.

BIG NEWS!!!!

Brett has bought a plane ticket and will be visiting me in Prince George from October 23rd until the 27th.

Ozzy and I are very excited!!!!

So my Dad has now left and gone home....and would you believe it?

He was on the same flight as the Vancouver Giants!!! And of course he told me they were all very nice, and polite. He added that I was too harsh on hockey players in my blog....but I stand by what I said. 85% of young hockey players are jerks. Let's call it the "Riley" syndrome.

I've been cleaning the house, getting everything nice and organized.

Tonight there will be a huge feast at Kyle's house! Everyone will be there. It's kind of exciting! My task is to make the salad....I guess Kyle got the memo that I can't cook. I appreciate the fact that he didn't ask me to make the......stuffing!? That sounds hard. And it could be worse, he could have asked me to bring cranberry sauce or something. But salad is important. And mine will be beautiful. I'll take a picture of it.

BAD NEWS:

My poor friend Marcus........

He was supposed to be here at 6pm tonight on his way to his new job in Chetwynd. Unfortunately I just got a terrifying call a few minutes ago from Marcus telling me he was in a car accident and is in Williams Lake Hospital. He's okay and really lucky. Only a few minor cuts and bruises. His truck, however, is not doing so well. The windows are all smashed and his luggage was strewn everywhere. Fortunately he has some cousins nearby who he can stay with tonight.

All I could tell him was that this is going to be a story he can tell his kids and his grandkids again and again.

Hopefully I'll get to see him tomorrow. Poor guy....... I hope bananas in pyjamas can lighten the situation.

How badly I want to come home for Thanksgiving.

I just checked Westjet and Air Canada and it's ridiculously expensive to fly out tomorrow. Why didn't I plan this before? I don't even have to work until Tuesday. I'm sad now.

It would have been so great to be home with friends and family. Not that I don't love my friends here...but it will just be different.

I'll be single, without family......kind of depressing when you think about it.

Oh well! Kyle from the Wolf is a fantastic host and he's having us lonely folk over on Sunday night. I want to say I'll bake a pie but....I won't.

This is what happens to Detroit Red Wing fans who bet against the Canucks.

94X DJ Gary Long had to wear Big Dog's jersey for an hour on one of PG's busiest intersections for one hour this morning. It was hilarious!!!

Nothing beats a full hour of public humiliation.....

(I made the sign- funny, non? It says "I'm G-Lo from 94X - Go Canucks Go!" on the other side)

All I have to say is:

Go Canucks Go!

(Like the dark hair?)

Top 5 Songs of The Day:

1. Give Me Shelter - The Rolling Stones

2. Spacelord - Monster Magnet

3. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana

4. The Only Living Boy in New York - Simon & Garfunkel

5. Let Go - Frou Frou

Why would anyone date a hockey player???

Honestly. I have NEVER dated a guy who plays hockey and I NEVER will. Yuck!

Yesterday, my Dad (who's in town visiting) and everyone from work went to see the Vancouver Giants play the PG Cougars. There were puck bunnies all over the place.

Anyone who's with the media sits in section M (that's where we all sit)....it's also the same place where all the injured players sit in their suits (think they're the hottest things on Earth).

The little 16 year old girls know that the injured players sit in section M so of course the little hoochies come out in droves.....it's just pathetic and sad.

A source told me that the Cougars have a girl in every single city. They all try to one up each other. Yuck!!! And there are girls who'll do anything to get near those scum bags?! (I know there are probably one or two nice guys per team).

Sure they're hot and they play the national sport which is awesome and I love watching them play on the ice! But if one of them ever invited me to play off the ice....they would be greeted with a loud HELL NO.

*UNLESS IT'S MY DARLING JUSTIN POGGE - HE'S MY ONE AND ONLY EXCEPTION*

To those of you who aren't familiar to Rock n' Roll Music....you probably don't know that Pantera is one of the biggest Metal bands in the world.

On October 22nd, I will have the utmost privilege of spending an hour with the drummer Vinnie Paul. I won't get to interview him...but i will get to take pics!

I am beyond excited. I have always dreamt of having a "Music Room" in my home full of Rock nostalgia and records, and cds. This will the perfect start to that collection.

I will hopefully get to have my picture taken with him and get him to sign a few things!!!

I am so excited!!!!

OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!!!!!!!

Guess what???

I am this close to getting to interview one of my idols!!!!

This is seriously going to be HUGE!!!

I just recieved an e-mail from the one and only "Perez Hilton" from www.perezhilton.com. The Gossip Blogger who gets over 2 million hits a day and has been featured in the pages of Us Weekly, People Magazine, Cosmopolitan and has been on MTV, Much Music, ET, Extra, etc.

Guess what the e-mail said? HE WANTS TO BE ON MY SHOW!!!!

I'm working on setting up the interview maybe next week. I'm so excited I can't contain it. I really hope this happens!!!!! Perez is my hero!!!! He has the best job in the world.

Sorry for the lack of posts yesterday.

Work has been busy. The Big Boss Man will be in tomorrow and Thursday so we want the show to be top notch.

Plus I'm entering Winter hibernation stage where I eat....sleep...work....sleep....eat....

It's going to SNOW here on Saturday. I'm scared. Plus....I can't find any electric outlets outside!!! I thought I had to plug my car in somewhere...I'm so confused.

HEATHER + WINTER IN PG= TOTAL MAYHEM

Ladies!!!

Your computer whiz of a friend has made you all a little gift. Remember Whistler 2006???

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1sDR40T3iM

Click on the link and enjoy!!!! (I have WAY too much spare time on my hands)

Kristin gives it one enthusiastic thumb up!

I'm trying to get nice and plump for winter. Not fat...just a little extra blubber to keep me warm. Poor Ozzy.....he was shivering today in bed. He needs a sweater! I would be a bad parent if I didn't get him one.

So back to me getting plump, here's my recipe for disast....I mean for warmth:

Pizza
Tim Hortons at least once a day
Midnight McDonalds
Coca Cola
Jessica William's cheesecake
Pancakes with chocolate chips
Miss Vickies original chips
Those fun Halloween sugar cookies from Save-On
Bagels with butter
Lucky Charms (no milk)

Last but not least: CHINA CUP - the best food ever! Went there last night with Docc, Colin, and our friend Jay. It's an all you can eat Chinese Buffet but they also have fries, corn, mashed potatoes, onion rings etc. Plus THREE different types of Jello and different cakes!

Wish me luck on my new diet!!!

It could have snowed last night!!!

It was freezing cold last night and this morning but it became warmer during the day.

I now realize that I am in serious weather denial. I have made myself believe that for whatever reason it just won't snow this year. I know it's stupid but I really can't imagine living in -30 degree weather. I'm quite scared. I have to turn the heat on in my house! Last night I slept in pj pants, a t-shirt, and my Hello Kitty fleece robe!!! I need sinus medicine asap.

Am I going to have to shovel my drive way at 5am? I can't do it! Do the machines do peoples driveways? I think the station should hire a driver to pick me up at 5:30 every morning. Sound fair? I know I sound like a spoiled princess.....

Why don't people hibernate like bears do?
